Matthew Mustapick Handmade Guitars
The Mustapick Arena OM
This is a versatile and powerful guitar for both fingerstylists and flatpickers. With regard to tone, I follow one simple principle, that I'm always looking for more of everything. I want great volume, low lows, high highs, and a huge dynamic range. With this guitar the basses are very full and rich, but focused and never muddy. The midrange of any guitar is the real sweetspot of its timbre. A strong upper midrange provides a kind of "sweetness". Fat trebles with sustaining upper partials provide a bell-like tone.

Sitka Spruce/Narra | Engelmann/Bloodwood
Curly Koa/Malaysian Blackwood | European Spruce/Sapele
Sitka Spruce/African Mahogany | Adirondack Spruce/Honduran Mahogany

It was my great pleasure to build this particular guitar for 2007 Winfield National Fingerstylist Champion Don Alder. This Arena features several options; the Ryan Armrest Bevel, the Manzer Wedge, the Side Soundport, and Multi-Scale Geometry (often referred to as "fanned frets"). Its woods are as follows; Adirondack spruce top, Honduran mahogany back and sides, bloodwood binding and headplate veneers, thuya burl rosette, and ebony bridge and fingerboard.
