To me, he has always seemed the perfect musical equivalent of the lone gunman-in looks and demenour…I imagine him travelling round the world writing wrongs with just a his trusty guitar in his holster.
To me he seems a man who plays because he loves what he does rather than that to impresss.
I would love to think that I would be that kind of musician. I’ve played for going on 50 years and never played to anyone except my wife! But I realise the bottom line it’s my relationship with the guitar and music which is the important thing rather than adulation-I think Chris Smithers is that kind of man.
