Upon going solo a few years ago, she practiced guitar incessantly so that she’d be able to accompany her singing, and in the process developed a distinctive, syncopated two-finger picking method. O’Donovan talks to AG about her “crash course” in guitar playing and shows off her 1934 size-0 Martin as well. We also discuss her array of influences–from mid-’90s Lilith Fair favorites to traditional folk and bluegrass–and, best of all, get to hear two lovely tunes.
