Acoustic music mainstay Laurie Lewis says that a dream helped lead her to buy a 1905 Holzhapfel 12-string guitar. In the dream, Lewis began playing a 12-string and realized that it could unlock a whole new avenue of songwriting.

Almost a year later, after scouring guitar shops for a 12-string that matched up to the tone she’d heard in her dream, Lewis visited the home of Alexia Seeger, the widow of folk legend Mike Seeger, and discovered the neglected Holzhapfel in an upstairs bedroom.
