Why not learn how to read music? Rather than learn a convoluted system just learn how to read music.

Is not “Sweet Home” simply 5 4 1? That’s the way the harmony feels. Plus the majority of the time is spent on the G. I see your #s, but that’s not the sweet home of the harmony, to me-me-me ; )

It’s alluded to but not emphasized in this article. The real power of the Nashville numbering system is the ability to play in any key if you know the numbers. You may known the song in Cmaj but the singer may prefer a lower Amaj. No problem to transpose using the same numbers applied to Amaj.

But it is confusing when the // / notation is sometimes shown with a space and sometimes not.

Might as well just learn to read music! I mean, that IS what you’re already doing.
