I recently caught a Soundstage you tube video with Welch and Rawlings. Halfway through the very first song, I was mesmerized. Your description of how their individual guitar work weaves together is perfect. I closed the door, turned off my phone and enjoyed that entire video. I have since gone back and listened to several songs repeatedly. There is something in the understatement of their work that gives rise to something very powerful. Gillian articulated this phenomenon well when she spoke about how minimalism can open into the panoramic. That is exactly what I experienced.

They are both excellent musicians with a sense of spot-on tastefulness that is seldom seen these days. But their songwriting is deeply inspirational, both musically and lyrically, especially for an aspiring songwriter like myself. Thanks again!
