Review: Nakupenda GM25 Guitar Master Stool Elevates the Seated Playing Experience
As a guitarist who only plays while seated, I’ve long made do with whatever chair is at hand—typically my trusty Herman Miller Aeron, which, while ergonomic for office work, is less than ideal for guitar playing. Recently, however, I had the chance to try the GM25 Guitar Master Stool by Nakupenda (from $349 direct), and it’s clear what I’ve been missing.
The stool’s standout feature is its posture-enhancing design, which positions guitarists up to six-foot-four at an ideal level for comfortable playing, reducing the fatigue and awkward posture that can come with makeshift seating solutions like my desk chair. The CNC-carved ergonomic seat is molded to contour naturally to the body, removing pressure points and providing balanced support for both hips and spine. It felt notably comfortable during the several long practice sessions I put it through.

Offered in FSC-certified ash or walnut, the GM25 isn’t just functional; it’s visually appealing. Inspired by tree trunks, the legs start wide at the base and taper gracefully upward. They are attached to the seat with traditional Chinese mortise-and-tenon joints and are reinforced with angled crossbars for stability, eliminating the need for screws. A hand-applied natural lacquer finish enhances the wood grain, making it a tasteful addition to any room, whether a home studio, living room, or even a concert hall.
Adding to the stool’s appeal is an integrated guitar stand—a practical feature that enhances its versatility. For a quick break, simply place your instrument on the stool’s back, where it rests securely on silicone anti-collision bars and protective foam, safe for most finishes. I felt confident in placing a prized instrument like my Collings OM in the stand.
On the whole, the Nakupenda Guitar Master Stool is a thoughtfully designed piece that elevates the often-overlooked seated playing arrangement in instrument setups. The GM25 offers an elegant solution, making it a worthwhile investment for guitarists seeking ergonomic comfort with a touch of artistry. Nakupenda.co
This guitar stool is phenomenal, as is the business owner Ahui Chen. Its a thing of beauty, like my guitars themselves and is extremely comfortable and convenient. But that is not the best part of the story. When I received my stool earlier this year I tried it out with several of my guitars. I noticed my Taylor 914 barely fit in the space provided and my Martin D28 stuck out even further. Sent a note to Ahui and he replied that based on my feedback he was going to lower the bars to fit the large guitars, and then he sent me a replacement with the new design for FREE! Not only does this man make a phenomenal product, he is a phenomenal person and stands behind his craftsmanship. Such integrity is rare these days.
